If you’re looking for an honest review, especially for dark roots or gray hair, here’s my real experience after testing multiple shades.
As someone with both brunette and blonde tones in my hair, I tested three shades of L’Oréal Magic Root Cover Up spray: Light Brown, Light to Medium Brown, and Medium Blonde for Blondes with Dark Roots.
Which L’Oréal Magic Root Cover Up Sade Actually Work?

Light Brown – Best for Dark Roots and Grays
The Light Brown shade was the only one that fully covered my dark roots and gray hair. The coverage was noticeable and effective, making it the best option I tried for anyone with darker growth.

Light to Medium Blonde – No Coverage
The Light to Medium Blonde shade didn’t cover my dark roots at all. If you have noticeable regrowth or gray hair, this shade is unlikely to work.

Medium Blonde for Blondes with Dark Roots – Partial Coverage, Unflattering Color
This shade did cover some of my dark roots and grays, but the color result was disappointing. On my hair, it turned an unflattering orange-yellow tone that didn’t blend naturally.

Conclusion: Based on my experience, only the darker shades of L’Oréal Magic Root Cover Up effectively cover dark roots and grays.
Are they Transfer Proof?
No. They’re transferable. Avoid placing glasses or sunglasses on your head. The product can transfer onto your face. Also, don’t rest your head on white pillows, sofas, or light-colored surfaces. Because of the transfer, this product is not suitable for beards.
