L’Oréal Blurfiller Review for Mature Lips

A review of the viral lipstick/lipliner on my 40+ lips

After seeing it everywhere on social media, I had to get my hands on one. It’s been described as a blurring, plumping, and smoothing lipstick/lipliner, often described as an affordable alternative to a higher-end formula. But does it actually work on mature lips?

I bought the shade Worth It Medium, which is a brownish pink, good for contouring lips in a slightly darker shade than the lipstick to make my lips look fuller.

I tested this product for one week in multiple ways: as a lipliner, as a lipstick, and with and without gloss.

First Impressions

Application/Glide 5/5 On application, the Blurfiller feels smooth, creamy, and glides easily across the lips. There is no tugging, and the initial texture is quite comfortable. However, that first impression doesn’t not last.

Comfort 1/5 This is where the product falls short. I found the formula noticeably drying, and after several days of wear, my lips felt dehydrated. It reminded me of older long-wear formulas from the 90s, such as Revlon Colorstay lipsticks, which were designed for longevity but not for comfort. For mature lips, especially those that tend to be drier, this type of formula can be unforgiving.

Texture & Finish 2/5 Although marketed as blurring, the formula tends to do the opposite on mature lips. Because of the dryness, it emphasizes lip lines and texture rather than softening them. Matte or dull finishes can often make lips appear older, and this product falls into that category.

Pigmentation 3/5 The pigmentation is good and provides a good color payoff. However, it does not stand out compared to other products in the same category.

Longevity 2.5/5 As a lipliner, the longevity was disappointing. When worn with a lipstick, both faded significantly after a meal. As a lipstick, the product held longer after eating, but began to look patchy with a few hours, even with minimal activity like talking. Reapplication made the dryness more noticeable and the finish more even.

Overall Thoughts

While the idea of a blurring lip product is appealing, the formula did not perform well on mature lips.

For those with drier lips or more visible lip texture, this product may emphasize the very concerns it claims to address.

Total Score: 2.7

If you are looking for a lip products that are more suitable for mature lips, consider formulas that provide hydration, softness, and a natural sheen rather than matte finish.
